Representative ImageVISAKHAPATNAM: The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation commissioner CM Saikanth Varma said that state govt has waived interest on property and vacant land tax dues under the purview of the GVMC.This initiative aims to provide relief to taxpayers who are burdened by interest charges. As per govt guidelines, taxpayers can avail of this waiver by settling their total tax dues by March 31.The commissioner encouraged house owners and property taxpayers in Visakhapatnam to utilize the government’s offer to waive interest charges.“To facilitate easy payment, citizens can conveniently make their outstanding property tax payments through various online and offline options like cash, debit/credit cards, and UPI. Designated locations like ward secretariats and specific bank branches (IDBI Siripuram, ICICI Dwarka Nagar, Punjab National Bank Madhurawada, Axis Bank Ram Nagar) will accept payments during their working hours,” said Saikanth Varma.The commissioner further underscored the significance of tax contributions in fostering Visakhapatnam’s development. To accommodate taxpayers’ schedules, the facility centres at GVMC’s main office and all zonal Saukaryam centres will extend their hours from 8 am to 8 pm daily until March 31. These centres will also remain open on Sundays and general holidays during this period.
